Thanks for reaching out to Team:Volunteers!

On volunteering: there will be different types of volunteer jobs available during the conference. Some jobs require no special knowledge or instruction. They are open for all angels (i.e. volunteers). Other jobs require specific skills, for instance the angels that edit the video-streams of the talks, or the angels that handle medical emergencies. And for some jobs all angels can qualify, as long as they attend the introduction meeting, for instance working at the infodesk. If you visit the wiki in the weeks before the event, you will find more info on volunteering and you can register in the "Engelsystem" to become an angel.

On discounts: in the ticket system [1] https://tickets.why2025.org/ you can choose a "low on funds nerd" ticket and ask to pay less, or send an e-mail to [2] friends at why2025.org to communcate about the possibility of a discount.
