Hi guys, i'm writing this at 1 AM in the morning, still high on the
adrenalin rush from this afternoon. Today we managed to pack 2280 badges in
their bag. Well we did a bit more than just pack. We mounted the display,
flashed software, tested the badge, glued the display, packaged the badge
and thén we put it in a bag.
We had about 16 volunteers, all working extremely hard to get this job
done. What was awesome to see was the bonding experience, the enthusiasm
and that everyone was taking care of each other. There was a lot of energy
and love in the air, and i feel that a lot of it has been transferred into
each kit.
Some stats and numbers
2400 boards processed in 4.5 hours, so roughly 533 badges per hour (about 9
badges per minute). Each kit weighs 100 grams, so we made 228kg of
badge-kits today.
Also interesting is the yield. I'm pleased to report that out of 2400
boards we had 120 fails, so 5% failure rate. That is much lower than we
anticipated and hoped for. Of those 120 fails, i've fixed 38 boards by
hand, so the failure rate at the moment is 3%.
Completing the mission
We're halfway there. 960 boards are en route and will arrive monday.
Hopefully the remaining ~1200 boards will arrive before Wednesday. We
really would like to finish all badge-kits this week. Doing it on the field
will distract during buildup and risk that we won't have enough badges to
hand out at the entrance.
We will organise another sweatshop at Revspace the Hague, and again it will
be on short notice. We're thinking Wednesday evening but we're unsure on
the amount of volunteers we can get. (also we're not sure To do this
process fast and good we need about 16 people. If you're available in the
evening and are up to the challenge, please let me know! If you're
available during the day, please also be in touch, maybe we can form a
small group to do a lot.
Thanks to all the hard working volunteers who did such incredible work
today. It was amazing!
We hope to see you at the next sweatshop and if not, we'll see you at the
field, hopefully grinning broadly wearing your badge (we know we will!).

PS: also a shout-out to the people who roamed the fields today and did a
wonderful job measuring stuff and doing flatterband work!
