Hi,

Now there is a CoC and many noses aligned etc I guess there is little
chance
said banned person will be there or close to sha2017. In effect, said
person will
be 'censored' - which is a recurring discussion topic as well at the
hacker camps.
Personally I do not mind, as long there is room for people that really
want
to go the extra technical mile in understanding and explaining
technology.

At HAR2009 there was a talk about censorship, which was in turn subject
to an
attempt of censorship. One of the attendees was climbing the stage, and
started to physically
remove the mic from the speakers' shirt. This rogue attendee was quite
calm and silent,
and basically only stated 'I want to stop this talk'. He was quickly but
firmly removed
from the stage and subsequently removed from the camp.

Thus some politics are about who to censor and who not to censor.

The HAR2009 official speaker's talk was interesting though, so can the
program
committee ensure that the topic of censorship can be discussed ? Perhaps
there
are also speakers that are willing to cover this topic and have sent in
a proposal
for this ?

Personal information is now so widely spread and indexed by large
companies
like Google and Facebook, privacy is getting 'less of an issue' or for
some,
simply a lost game.

Censorship however, is getting easier with more centralised services and
people less reliant on local storage and local data integrity. In
addition,
third-party closed-source apps controlling their local data that can
perform
the censorship function in an automated form.
