Hi SHA organization,
We are sending this email to provide an update on the SHA CTF that we are
currently building.
We have decided the dates for the CTF and teaser round:
The CTF Teaser round will take place on Saturday the 10th of june 2017 from
14:00 till 22:00 (CEST), 8 hours in total. The team with the most points or
the team who solves all the challenges first will win 4 tickets for SHA
2017.
The CTF will take place from Saturday the 5th of August 2017 12:00 (CEST)
till Monday the 7th of August 2017 0:00 (CEST), a total of 36 hours.
Within a CTF the challenges are divided over multiple categories. One of
these categories is Forensics. During the OHM CTF we partnered with the
Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) for this category. The NFI provided
challenges to us, which we reviewed and used in the final CTF. For the SHA
CTF we would like to partner with the NFI again. We really think this is a
unique partnership which enables us to provide realistic forensic
challenges unlike most CTFs. This will for sure aid to the experience of
the players.
The NFI will not become part of the CTF organization, but they will be a
partner. They will not get access to our CTF system, the log files or
player information. Basically they will provide some challenges, which we
will then use and all challenges will be hosted on our infrastructure.
Because the NFI is a government organization we are being completely open
about this potential partnership. We will also be completely transparant
during the CTF about this partnership, so anyone can choose themselves if
they want to play the CTF or not. If anyone has a good, valid and solid
reason why we should not work together with the NFI please let us know. We
hope however that it is not needed to have lengthy discussions about this
topic. We are volunteering to organize this CTF and it consists of an
insane amount of work to design, create and test everything. We would
rather put our time and energy in creating something awesome instead of
needless discussions.

Kind regards,
The SHA CTF organizers
