The connection is: if I know that the expenses for the camping grounds
plus equipment are 1.000.000 Euros, and we expect 3333 people, then the
price of 300 Euros makes sense.
If I can pay 300, I would still like to know: what am I getting for that
money?
if paying 300 is too much for many people in our community, Then I would
like to know: how can we lower the costs?
Or -- what are the elements of the 1.000.000 costs?
As someone who has been part of these events since HIP97,
I understand what the costs are for.
But, if we want to attract *newcomers*, we need to be able to explain: why
is the ticket for a camping festival with pop-stars the same or cheaper as
the ticket for a hackers camping where particpants are expected to
volunteer to clean up, direct the traffic & be moderators at talks...
Are we spending money on star speakers?
Do we need to rent such expensive generators or tents?
Is this camping space too large for us?
I don't want to be wondering about this.
I want to be able to point to the document that explains this.
Thanks,
Vesna
