Hi,

WHY2025 was very tough for Team:Warehouse (more on that later perhaps) but the event itself was a big success.

WHY has had great volunteers, great food, and great tools. Some tools were rented, most were bought. The stuff we bought is now going to be donated to the Dutch hacker organizations that have contributed resources or people to WHY2025, and to eth0, which is sponsored by IFCAT.

Please understand that the decision has already been made, and the idea of donating things to Dutch hackerspaces is not up for debate. Storing everything for 4 years was ruled out, alternatives were considered, bikes were shed after the keys were finally returned.

I was appointed BOFH of this operation, and I want to distribute the resources as fairly as I can, according to agreements made with stichting IFCAT. There are a few dozen boxes, and I intend to have most of it gone by the end of this month so they can be used instead of taking up space.

To answer the most FAQ: no, there is no list of things. Just ask for what you want and we'll see if we have that. Those who have been at the event will probably have seen things at the Warehouse (and some other places), that they think would be nice addicions to their hackerspaces.

The second most FAQ is about deco stuff. We don't have any of the pretty stuff: no flags, no banners, no signs.

So... if you represent a Dutch hackerspace, please send an email to warehouse at lists.why2025.org, in which you answer the following questions:

    1. Which Dutch hackerspace do you represent? You don't have to be an official representative, but please do communicate amongst yourselves so we get only one reply per space.

    2. Do you wish to participate in this give-away? Note: someone will have to pick things up at RevSpace; we will not arrange any shipping.

    3. What kinds of things would really help your space? Are you in dire need of power strips? Does someone keep consuming all the consumables? Are you still missing some (less) useful powertools?

    4. What kinds of things would you really hate to receive? E.g. Are you overflowing on office supplies? Does your space already have the entire Parkside range? Are permanent markers banned since the incident?

    5. Will you happily accept your gifts, without complaining or jealousy? There will be things you didn't ask for, that we think you might like anyway. Feel free to re-donate stuff that you don't want for your space.

     6. What was the role of your space and its participants/members in the organization of WHY2025? There's something for every Dutch hackerspace, but I'll favor the spaces that have actually participated in making WHY2025 happen!

     7. Is your space an official Statiegeld Nederland innamepunt? (We have some rolls of unused statiegeldzakken.)

Please answer asap! The order of replies and the answer to question 6 will be used as tie-breakers. I hope to receive most answers within a few days.


A lot of things were already donated to the Voedselbank and volunteers who were at the teardown. Some things are trashed and some will be given away because we think no hackerspace would want them. But there are still a few dozen boxes of things to distribute. You might not get what you ask for, but I will at least try.

P.S. In the stash are also 4 large flip-over tripods with built-in whiteboards, and a big box of "bio degradable" plastic pegs that were used for flatterband. Does anyone have a use for these?
