Hi team and potential future team members,
It's time we started getting in gear, getting organized, and start doing the actual work making WHY2025 happen :)
I would like to host a kickoff meeting somewhere in the next week or so for everyone who would like to be part of team Terrain, to organize and get this whole thing started. On the agenda are
four topics:
- getting to know each other, saying hi, seeing who we have as a team;
- finding out who would like to be involved with which tasks, and do what jobs;
- planning out what needs doing for the next year or so, and scheduling meetings and other organization and communication channels;
- getting started on a first draft of the site layout.
What times would work for you for this, and what location would be practical? I'd like to have this meeting no later than Tuesday the 16th (see below), presumably somewhere in the evening
unless we end up in the weekend. As for the location, you are all welcome to come join me at my home hackerspace Hackalot in Eindhoven; but with two of our team members being based
close to the WHY2025 terrain some two hours away, meeting somewhere in that area would save some needless travel time, if someone is able to host us there. I'd like to avoid having the
meeting in an online-only setting if possible, as we'll be doing a good amount of drawing on maps, and doing that on a screen share is far from ideal.
Please sign up and fill in some suitable times and locations at https://datumprikker.nl/pix4ujravyjtzjuh . Further mailing list bikeshedding on where you would like to meet is also encouraged :)
In addition to this meeting around a table with some paper and laptops and a map to draw on, we also have the opportunity for two separate site visits in the upcoming weeks:
- in the evening of Tuesday July 16th, from 19:00 to 21:00, we are invited to come have a look at the Liquicity buildup site, to see how they are doing things. The people from team NUTS (power
& plumbing infrastructure) will be there; and I think it would be sensible for us to be there as well. Ideally we do this tour *after* our own first round of brainstorming and drafting, hence the
deadline.
- furthermore, I'd like to have a look at the state of the terrain, after Liquicity has left and the terrain has had the opportunity to recover a bit. WHY2025 starts 12 days after Liquicity 2025, so
ideally we want to visit approximately 12 days after Liquicity 2024 [July 19 - 21], which is August 2nd; the closer to that date we can visit, the more accurate our assessment will be of what we
can expect field conditions to be like in 2025. And maybe we can combine it with a second team meeting, if we are all there anyway.
Who would like to be part of these visits? Non-team-members reading this are also welcome to join in. For the post-Liquicity visit, please enter availability at
https://datumprikker.nl/pxx2p539itrtzjhm ; for the July 16th visit, a yes/no will suffice.
Let's do this,
Ruud Koolen
