Hi Haakjes,

Thank you for your email!
My bad. It was Family Village in the SHA2017 booklet that I used as a reference for this year's version. At MCH it was indeed named Family Zone.

The booklet is handed out upon arrival at the camp. Therefor it should only contain information that is relevant during the event, not before camp starts.

In the SHA booklet, the Family Village was only mentioned on the map and phone list.
In the MCH booklet the Family Zone had an entire page:

___
The Family Zone is the place for our future hackers and makers! Join us for kid-friendly fun and appropriate activities for all ages. The Family Zone is a wonderful place for children to forge new alliances - err, to make new friends!

Our younger visitors will be able to enjoy a sandbox, bouncy castle, plushie put and other great ways to turn energy into entropy!
Our more advanced youngsters will be able to enjoy watergun battles, workshops, and more!

Finally, our (pre-)teen hackers can find a quiet place to play card games, board games, frisbee, learn to code, and perhaps watch a movie or two.

The Family Zone will endeavor to arrange engaging kids tours across MCH2022! There will also be professional day care, granting parents some "adult time" to hit the bar for a Club Mate or Tschunk wander around without kids.

Plausible deniability in Family Zone however does mean: No Nerf darts, please (unless you are really really sure about getting all of them). Similarly, water balloons are frowned upon, but we'll find a suitable alternative.
We encourage kids to take part in angelshifts as Kids Angels!

Check out our section on the MCH2022 wiki or contact the Family Zone at 5437 (KIDS) for all your family-related queries!
We can't wait to see you and your young hackers at the Family Zone.

The MCH text is too long for this year's programme. We are scaling down from a 24 page 14 x 14 cm booklet to a folded map (less expensive and less paper waste, but also less space). It's basically a two-sided A3, where one side is used for map, camp rules and the front/backside, which leaves one side for visitor info + sponsors. That is why we were thinking more along the lines of around 300 characters 😬 Just the basics, that there is a Family Zone and where you can find more info, plus child safety, tear down and Kids Angels.

If you have any further questions, please let me know!

This booklet includes key information about what is (and isn’t) allowed on site, tips on how to get the most out of the event, and how we can all contribute to making WHY2025 fun and safe for everyone.
