[mch2021-orga] Question about gift card

Hi Chris (and others),
The idea was to quietly open it and have some more information later. Seems it wasn’t so quiet. ;-)
So, we opened the ticketshop (https://tickets.mch2021.org) where you can buy a giftcard that can be redeemed when the ticket sales starts. This is a new feature in Pretix that allows us to give out codes that can be redeemed for any product in the shop in the future.
There are a few reasons we’re doing this:
- It gives us an insight in the interest in the event. Which we hope enough people are (given the number of giftcards sold in a day, I think we’re ok ;-))
- We can give people an early possibility to essentially make a ticket reservation and at the same time not have to spend the entire ticket price.
- When we came up with the idea (before covid19 started) it would serve as crowd funding and give us early cash flow. That is less urgent now (given how we deal with suppliers), but it is still welcome.
To answer your questions, specifically:
a) Yes. If we would have the “problem” that the number of giftcards sold would be more than the number of available tickets, we would have to close the shop until the ticket sales starts.
b) It will be deducted from the total order, so also if you would add a t-shirt for example.
Best regards,
Attilla
