[why2025-orga] Cashless Payment at WHY

Mithackers,

As many of you are aware, we implemented a cashless payment system during
MCH2022. While the system had its challenges, some of which were beyond our
control and couldn’t easily be mitigated, it also brought several benefits
that we had and hadn’t anticipated upon.

One of the unforeseen positive outcomes was that we received a discount on
our festival insurance. This was due to the reduced risks associated with
handling cash, as the insurers did not have to account for potential cash
losses or related security concerns. Additionally, after the event, our
bank performed an anti-fraud/money laundering check (WWFT) due to some not
so usual transactions to foreign countries. However, once they realized
that nearly all transactions were cashless and fully accounted for, they
closed the check without much hassle.

For WHY2025, we are considering using a cashless payment system again,
similar to MCH2022. However, we want to incorporate the lessons we’ve
learned and improve the experience even further.

We would like to ask the community for feedback —both positive and
negative— so that we can take your input into account and create an even
better experience for everyone.

there’s no need to repeat that in full. We’re particularly interested in
hearing from those who may have missed the previous feedback opportunity.
