Hi WHY minded people!

Team:Cohesion is working on a new Code of Conduct for WHY and we invite
you to give input if you feel so inclined.  We want the CoC be written
in as positive language as possible, omitting /thou shalt not/s if we can.

For future reference the Code of Conduct can be found on a dedicated
page on the wiki. Once we are satisfied it will be transferred to the
WHY main website too. And because clicking on a link is work: I've
pasted the current draft below. Edits though will be made on the wiki
page, but feel welcome to put your suggestions in on the mailing list,
or if you prefer to cohesion at why2025.org.

WHY2025 of Conduct

What Hacker Yearn! We yearn to create, connect, and celebrate the thrill
of discovery together. We yearn to make sure everyone has an
unforgettable experience. Remember, it’s all about respect, inclusivity,
and being awesome to each other.

          Respect for Individuals

Let’s keep it friendly and welcoming! Everyone here deserves respect, so
leave the negativity out. Harassment, discrimination, or any kind of
aggressive behavior? Not cool, and not welcome. Kindness and curiosity
go a long way.

          Inclusivity and Diversity

WHY2025 is for everyone. That means embracing a wide mix of backgrounds,
nationalities, genders, ages, abilities, and perspectives. Stay open to
viewpoints different from your own and let’s lift each other up!

          Privacy and Consent

We’re here to share and learn, but remember: always ask permission
first. Photos or recordings should only be taken with clear consent, and
don’t touch anyone’s tech or setup without a thumbs-up from them. Trust
is key!

We all yearn for a piece of privacy. Do you want to keep or share a
memory of a project or art installation that is fine. Though, be mindful
about the privacy of others before you take recognizable pictures of
people, and ask for clear consent.

          Environmental Respect

Let’s leave the camp as awesome as we found it—or even better! Clean up
after yourself, use the bins provided, and take care of the
surroundings. Our environment is everyone’s responsibility, so let’s
tread lightly.

          Safe Spaces and Accessibility

Everyone deserves a comfortable and accessible camp experience. Be
mindful of designated quiet zones, accessibility needs, and safe spaces.
If someone needs assistance, let’s work together to help out and make
this a space for all.

          Conflict Resolution

If anything makes you or someone else uncomfortable, reach out to a
cohesion volunteer, or our designated safety crew. We’re committed to
handling all concerns with care, privacy, and respect. Let’s keep our
interactions positive and resolve conflicts constructively. And if
someone approaches you with feedback on your behavior, listen with an
open mind. We’re all here to learn and grow.

Final Thought: Don’t Forget to Be Awesome

At the end of the day, we yearn to share ideas, create, and have a blast
together. So keep the vibe positive, be respectful, and let’s make this
one for the books.😘
