Dear Team:Terrain,
You probably already know all the things we (Team:Family) are looking for in the location for the Family Zone, but we thought it would help you out if we put things as a list in a mail.
For clarity, we use the name "Family Zone" to refer to the geographical area used by Team:Family to bring an awesome experience for the next generation of hackers, and their nerdy parents. The term "Family Village" or "Kids Village" was used in SHA2017 and led to some confusion regarding their status and whether it was not just a normal village.
The Family Zone requests, if at all possible:
* Have space for 2 large tents (workshop tent and indoor play / childcare tent, just like SHA2017 and MCH2022), bouncy castles, sandpits, and space for camping of families and villages with many kids.
* For safety, have no (obscured) water directly on or aside the Family Zone. During the terrain walk we noticed a lot of possible water ponds and most of the water is hidden by reeds.
* Have sufficient toilets and showers in the proxyimity of the Family Zone. Especially with babies and small children, it’d be nice not to have to walk too far for a toilet and shower.
* Away from loud noise, especially during the night. The noise gradient from the previous event worked pretty well!
* Allow for a few campers near/on the Family Zone. This wasn’t possible at SHA or MCH, but perhaps this year it will be possible. Of course there are many campers without families, so not *all* the campers need to be near the Family Zone, but for the few families it might be very nice to stay on/near Family Zone this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please find us on IRC or email.
Kind regards,
Haakjes
Team:Family
